Hey Cat- Love the post. I would be glad to offer up our backyard fire pit in Berkeley for disposal of the pesky clover. :) DB

Perhaps you (and the giver) have been tricked. 4 leaf clovers are only common in certain places. (even found a 5 leaf once) What you may have is a 3 leaf clover with a 'spare' leaf artfully placed. With a shifted glass, the 'spare' fell away.

Thus, it was never 'lucky' to begin with and its truth was simply revealed around the same time as some others. From what I've seen, an engagement is better ended than a marriage so that was actually lucky. You're not going to find better if you're still stuck with the old. Good things have a way of being seen more easily then too.

And why lay it on 2009? The object here is to enjoy the journey, not get hung up on what happened. Autumn would be pretty dark if we got stuck on every falling leaf. ;-)

May I suggest getting rid of it the way Burnie girls got rid of love letters in 1996, burning it in an on fire oil drum while Alanis plays in the background?

Jannie has such great referrals-

Are you sure that's the prob?
Defective lucky charms should be burnt or salted to stop their magic powers...

"Maybe 2009 will be my year. " A kid at work asked about the New Year stated with umph that "2009 will be my year!" n that's what I'm going to put on my header for New Years, cus he wrote the "I'll try to give 2008 a chance" too!

What a coinkydink!

ha! Jannie seems to have brought you a lot of new readers (myself included) and yeah, shedding clovers are BAD NEWS - it's written in Murphy's Law, just not the popular ones...

Here's to hoping 2009 is a better (stellarly 4-leafed) year!

That is funny. And yet tragic. I'd be tempted to save it- break that glass apart ever so gently paste the lost leaf back on.

Well, well, well. Who knew you and that fucking clover would be so goddamn popular?

Still laughing here!

Again, as I said in the e-mail, look for me doing a follow-up post to my first one. Either tomorrow or Monday.
